“Life is not fair. Get over it.” – Bill Gates

Life is full of risks. Some people, like me, choose not to take those risks. No longer will I do that.

By playing it on the safe side of things, in the last 3 days I’ve missed out on $700.

First, there was a lady who came in to work wondering who we recommend to clean out ponds. My coworker jokingly said she’d do it, and after a short discussion, she ends up making $500 for 4 hours of work on her day off.

Secondly, another lady came in to work today offering me a gecko for free, with cage. Now, I know the value of reptiles in this country. I saw a chance to make a nice chunk of change. So I told her I’d think about it, called up Kenny (the reptile lover i know), and asked if he was interested. I call the woman, tell her I have a friend that is interested and ask for some information on the thing, like the age, sex, and type of gecko. In the end, because I didn’t make a simple risk (or white lie later on), I missed out a good $200, at least, selling the gecko instead of cutting myself out of the equation as the middleman (She wanted to meet him in person to see if he was a cool guy).

Now, I’m sure you all know what $700 is, for those who have jobs. For me, working 48 hours a week, it’s half a month of pay. Half a month of pay that was nearly given to me (for 5 hours of work), and I missed out on the opportunity because I was afraid to take a risk or two. So step outside your comfort barrier (and I’ll step out of mine), and take some risks. You just might profit from it. Make investments, play the lottery (No, don’t, that’s not a risk, that’s a gamble.). Be afraid, but do it anyways.
