I’ve been looking for a good excuse to post again. Nothing really exciting has happened recently.
Until…

I found that Pro at Cooking Episode 4 is out. Watch it from Episode 1, it’ll be funnier. To maximize funniness, watch at least the first Season of Pure Pwnage first! (www.purepwnage.com)
Amazing Stuff. Dave is the man. And pro at cooking.
In other news, I want to get some songs recorded, but the only way to get the on the computer for editing (in decent quality) is to use my little brother’s Boss BR900CD. Unfortunately, he’s an asshole, and as soon as he found out I might be kind of using it when he’s not even in the house, he hid the CF Card, which may or may not be required for recording. I’ll have to figure something out.
wATCH IT. nowWW
Busy busy.

Well now (hopefully only until Cayleigh starts working) I’m working 10 hour days. So you can understand that blogging about work is not my main priority.
Ordering some high-yield poppies for Opium, if I can find a spot to plant them.
Iron Man

Read it. It’s long, doesn’t get into details, but is still pretty damn cool. Of course, it’s only the beginning, but it’s nice to see some articles in Popular Science that are actually real, as opposed to future ideas and concepts, that weigh in equal or greater on the cool scale.
In other news, Harper’s is now open 8AM to 8PM, so some days I get to sleep in! Like today. Woot (Only the sun was in my eyes.
In other, other news, I got myself cellphone. I’m on virgin mobile, so every minute of talk costs 30 cents, and that’s it. No other catches or anything of the sort. Except that after your prepaid minutes expire (Minimum of 15 that expire in 45 days) you lose your minutes unless you buy more. I did the math to figure out that the $25 prepaid card is the most cost-effective, and the $50 card is the LEAST cost effective. the $100 card is on-par with the $25 card, and the $15 comes in third place.
With the $15 card you need to spend 33 cents/day
$25 27/day
$50 42/day
$100 27/day
So everyone using Virgin Mobile who never runs out of minutes, you can be spending $97 every year ($8 monthly) and saving $25 yearly by buying the $25 card instead. It might not be much, but it’s still money! (After 4 years that’s $100 you’ve lost)

Scientology.
April 15, 2008
Scientologists are angry, crazy people. Sure, Tom Cruise is a scientologist, but at least he’s a good enough actor that he can act normal for movies. These guys…can’t.
What a bunch of angry people accusing others of false crimes when their’s are pointed out. Seen any angry buddists lately? (Sure, there are angry killers from all religions, but Scientology has a significantly higher amount of them. It’s almost like the KKK, or the beginning of the apocalypse.)
Long time, no post.
April 13, 2008
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. It’s mostly due to the fact that 9 hours a day I’m at work, sparing 3 or 4 for actual recreational activities, and over the last couple days, that time was spent working on the laptop. Here’s what I accomplished: I put a stick of ram in.
Why did this take days to accomplish? Well, first I was screwing around with the laptop, taking it apart, you know, to see how much space is inside for future mods (The answer is a LOT, I’m thinking a USB Gamepad that can slide into where the PCMCIA/SD card reader is.). In the process of incorrectly removing the laptop RAM the first time, I managed to wedge a small crumb in the RAM slot. I’m not sure how that happened. (I was pulling out instead of releasing the pins, it was my first time, okay?)
This caused all sorts of glitches and problems with the computer. Some times it wouldn’t start up at all, and other times it would completely freeze up, which happened VERY often, most times within minutes of boot-up. So after checking the RAM via memtest and the other laptop, and finding both sticks are A-okay, I formatted. I didn’t have the recovery CD, so I popped in any old XP cd we had lying around. Of course, there’s an unnecessarily large number of XP versions (XP Home OEM, XP Home Retail, XP Home….XP Pro OEM…XP Media Centre Edition… I’m not going to name them all, there’s around 15). Due to this fact, the serial on the laptop did not work. So I installed XP Home, and realized it was one of those versions that requires activation before it lets you log in. I tried for a night via a linux live CD to crack it to no avail. So I figured I’d do it right, with the right version. So the next day I got XP Pro, only to find out there’s about 316 versions of this type of XP as well. (Would they be called sub-version versions?) This one let me in to XP with a pirated serial, so I went in and tried for a day or two to get wireless to work. The problem, in the end, is that LG SUCKS AT LIFE AND CAN’T KEEP AN UP-TO-DATE WORKING DRIVER ON THEIR GOD DAMN SITE. After searching for many hours, I found the right, current driver on the Intel website, which does not suck. With wireless working, I shifted my attention to “activating” windows. I got a crack of the interwebz, and it was a virus. So I gave up, formatted, and downloaded the correct version of XP: Pro OEM, not Pro Corp. Only to find out that it was the polish version, and there was no way to switch after the install, even though I set all settings to English. So I formatted, got the right version in ENGLISH, spent yesterday getting it to work the way I like, and here I am. Somewhere along the lines I found the crumb, and am running a good 1 gig of ram in the laptop now, which is more than the CPU needs to run several things at 100% usage.
Not fun. I’m going to try linux out (Ubuntu). I read it can’t play mp3s, which sucks, but I don’t listen to music too often, so it’ll be alright. It’ll be used for firefox and Pidgin (Program that runs with the MSN server)
And I hate this god damn touchpad. It gets in the way of typing SO GOD DAMN MUCH. I miss my broken touchpad and IBM nub… I have a USB mouse, but there are times I won’t be able to use it. Is there a way to disable the touchpad via keyboard shortcut? Fn + something?
Yes, I’m in a bad mood. I’m overworked, the laptop is giving me problems, and today, April 13, which was my password (followed by some binary) for a good year, marks the day of 6 months of no girlfriend. It was one-way true love. No fun.
All sorts of woes.
April 7, 2008
I’m typing this from my spiffy new laptop. Okay, well it’s a USED spiffy new laptop. LG LS50a, Pentium M 1.6Ghz, and an undetermined amount of RAM. I say that because I’m pretty sure I fudged up some parts of the stick it came with. It would crash constantly for no reason, and that happened right after boot many times. I’m typing this now from a 512mb stick of ram from the other laptop (They’re the same). I was using 1 gig for a while, but I think I’m going to need to buy a new stick now, if replacing the stick caused the problem. I’ll find out tomorrow by running the other computer with that stick in it.
Anyways, this blog post (which hasn’t crashed with the new stick of ram, it did at least twice with the old stick) is to get some traffic to a friend’s song. He wants opinions, critques, etc. Hold nothing back. Make him cry. Cyber-bully him.

Woo! A weekend!
April 7, 2008
I finally get some days off. Monday-Tuesday I get to rest up to do it all again next week!
I don’t know if I said it before, but I quit the pub early. I’m not willing to do that again, I actually got to the point where I wasn’t getting more tired because I couldn’t. So hopefully that’ll help things.
I almost broke a $100 vase at work. I only chipped and cracked it, so I guess that’s okay or something… Whatever, it’s all okay in the end as long as I don’t have to pay a day-and-a-half’s wages to fix a 30 second mistake (that includes cleanup).
Today or tomorrow I do some pond maintenance on my own pond at home, before the froggies start to attack it with billions of baby tadpoles. I’ll feel bad killing several.
I get my new laptop today, I hope. It’s an LG (not Dell), so that makes it better already. I like LG, everything they make that I’ve ever owned lasted forever. The only downside is I might not be able to find a battery that fits in the CD Drive, which would extend the battery life to about 12 hours. If I can’t find a new battery for a decent price, I think I’ll try my hand at re-celling the existing one. Where can I find cheap/free ‘A’ cells?
Death.
April 3, 2008
I’m veeeery tired. I might even go to bed soon. The next couple days will be hard on me. Tomorrow I’m at work alone, although I’ve been given a lengthy list of things to do over the next two days. Saturday I’m working 9-1 at Harper’s then 5-Midnight at the pub (and handing in my letter of resignation), but luckily I’m working at Harper’s at 11-6 on Sunday, so it won’t be as bad as it could have been otherwise. Monday and Tuesday I get off. Hurrah!
I talked to Sam (Sam Harper, my boss) about getting some weekends off. In a month or two when all the University Students start coming in, he’ll make sure I get some weekends off. He’s very understanding. He’s a great boss. I like him a lot. He also was working with me for this and next Saturday, the days I’m working at the pub. He’s the man to work for, for sure.
Brutally tired.
April 2, 2008
Well, right now I’m just extra extra tired. I get a 20 minute break, then I gotta get ready for my other job. That makes a 7.5 hour job almost immediately followed by a 4 hour job. That’s a 11.5 hour work day for those not willing to add 4 to 7.
(To those confused, like Kevin. I’m quitting the job at the pub). Just thought I’d throw that in there.
But yeah, tonight I quit at the pub. My new job is giving me MANY many hours. I believe they can’t give me over 50 every week, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing 40-50 easily. Getting off at 4 is getting off “early”, so a 9 hour work day seems to be the standard I’ll be doing. I don’t mind the work (or the money), I’d just prefer to have some time for myself. I hope I’m not working 7 days a week. I think I might be some weeks. But if 9 hours is standard (which I don’t mind doing), then I’ll only be able to work 5 days at 9 hours, or 5 days at 9 hours and one at 7. Either way, I get at least a day off work a week. It’s not a lot, but it’s enough for now. I can always take a day or two off, my boss has been really cool about all that lately.
MORE Tired.
April 1, 2008
I just got back from my first day at my job at Harper’s. A 9 hour shift. Although it was much better and much more liked than my other job at the pub. Which might be causing some problems. I’m going to have to quit, and I might have to do it on the spot, without 2 weeks notice. My goal is to quit as soon as possible without making Ken look like an ass for recommending me. Tomorrow isn’t going to be fun. ASSUMING I get off work early, I’ll be working 7 hours, then another 4. And if I can’t get my Friday shift traded, then I’m really screwed, because I absolutely can NOT start work at 5. Especially if I get off at 6 again. If I get off at 4, that still leaves very little travel and dinner time. And it leaves no break time.
Anyways the job itself is great. There’s not really anyone my age there yet (University students will fill the place like no tomorrow after they get off, I’m sure), but everyone is really nice, except for those people who just kinda sat in the corner and lurked. I’m sure they’re nice too, just antisocial and shy like me!
I don’t actually know WHAT I’m doing yet. Today was all simple grunt work. Moving some plants, but mostly packaging things for sale (Lava Rock, $2.99, D-17; Salt, $4.99, D-17; Gravel, $2.99, D-17. This went on for most of the day.) Tomorrow I meet the part-time person who’s working with me (Not actually ‘with’ at the same time as me.). His name’s Bruce, and he’s 70. He’s also a noob like me. Pretty sure I’m in charge of all things pondular. Catching and bagging fishies, cutting pond liner, and giving helpful pond advice. That’s all I know that I’m doing for sure. I guess I’ll find out more tomorrow.
Posting daily is becoming a pain. I’ll probably still do it, because it’s a nice log of events in my life to look back on, but this week, at least, is brutal. It started off with no sleep and ended with two jobs and many chores to do outside of the jobs. Chores include: Buy Khakis for the job (they don’t like jeans), get a haircut for the job (they don’t like hair), and buy a cellphone so I know where everyone else is in case I get stranded or something comes up or they forget about me one day. Once things calm down (next week or in two weeks), I also need to buy a wallet (I burned my current one along with everything else she gave me), pick up that Dell I’m getting for free, and get a cellphone if its priority is bumped down a notch.
